Biography

raja-(10) Raja Mushtaq Hussain was born in Delhi in 1969. As a six-year old child he started learning music from his father Iqbal Hussain, a very famous classical singer in ‘Khayal-style’.

In 1992 Raja went to Europe and for two years he studied under the guidance of his uncle, the famous Indian classical singer and composer Ustad Mohammad Sayeed Khan.

Ever since he was eight years old Raja has given performances and could be heard and seen both on Indian radio and television. In 1989 he gave a concert for the then Prime Minister of India late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and the then President of India late Giani Zail Singh, a very special occasion for a child of his age.

Raja Mushtaq Hussain represents a variety of styles. He is specialised in semi-classical Indian music as well as in ghazals and geet (light music), folk music, bhajans and qawwalies and pop music. He is not only a great singer but also a great composer of inspiring songs in which he presents different kind of emotions.
